This website was developed by Tempo Historical Consulting with financial support from the Embassy of Portugal in Canada, Camões, I.P., and LIUNA Local 183 as a digital companion to the exhibition Movimento Perpétuo: The Portuguese Diaspora in Canada.

Tempo Historical Consulting acknowledges that the history of Portuguese immigration in Canada is part of a larger history of colonialism, that Canadians of Portuguese descent are settlers in territories with which many Indigenous Nations have longstanding and ongoing relationships that pre-exist the arrival of Europeans, and that Portuguese Canadians have benefitted in different ways from the colonial project. We invite our visitors to join us in learning and acknowledging this history and legacy, and our shared responsibility to consider our roles in decolonization and reconciliation.
