Sid and Alex Seixeiro
Sports Entertainment Media Hosts
Born and raised in Mississauga.
I fell in love with soccer with my dad listening to Benfica games, usually cursing Benfica out, win or lose. But every weekend, I would be hearing through the radio games I could not see that sounded amazing with a play-by-play guy who was out of this world… How could you not love soccer listening to that all the time? – Sid Seixeiro
Sid Seixeiro is one of the most recognizable and funniest personalities on Canadian talk-show television, first with the popular sports show Tim & Sid and currently with the morning show Breakfast Television. Sid’s brother Alex has followed in his brother’s footsteps and became a radio and television sports broadcaster. Their obsession with sports started in their childhood while watching Benfica games with their father.
Biography
The brothers Sid and Alex Seixeiro are well-known personalities in Canada’s sports entertainment media. Their father immigrated to Canada from Gafanha da Nazaré, near Aveiro, in mainland Portugal, and their mother from São Miguel, Azores, in the 1970s. They settled in Streetsville, Mississauga, where they had three children – Sid being the oldest, born in 1977, and Alex the youngest, born in 1984. The Seixeiro brothers’ love of sports stems from the times spent with their father listening to Benfica matches on the radio, watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hockey Night in Canada, and the Portugal national soccer team.
Sid started working as a sports commentator on the radio with his co-host Tim Micallef on The Sports Score Network in 2004. Rogers’ Sportsnet picked up their popular show in 2015 and it became “Tim & Sid,” one of the most watched primetime daily television sports shows in Canada. The duo offered sports analysis and interviews mixed with humour, informality, and spontaneity. Alex followed on his brother’s footsteps and became a radio sportscaster for Sportsnet 590 The FAN in 2006. In 2016, he also began appearing on Sportsnet television as an anchor.
Alex is a Humber College graduate in radio-broadcasting. He joined Sportsnet 590 The FAN in February of 2006 and has been a sportscaster with 680 NEWS since. Alex has covered many events over the years including the 2007 Grey Cup and the MLS All-Star Game, and the 2010 and 2012 Olympics. Alex also hosts ‘The Fantasy Show’ Sunday mornings on Sportsnet 590 The Fan, covering baseball and football year-round. In 2021, he became a sportscaster with 680 News, where he hosts the Sunday morning “The Fantasy Show.” That same year, Sid left “Tim and Sid” to become a co-host at City Tv’s “Breakfast Television” with Dina Pugliese and Devo Brown. He continues to cover sports news on that show and on social media sites.
